Swatches: Coastal Scents Warms

Continuing from the last post, today is the warm color range from Coastal Scents. All pictures, unless stated otherwise, go from left to right. Click to enlarge.

In the yellows and golds are: 24 Karat Gold, Goldstone, Metallic Olivia, Sparkle Gold, Antique Gold, Pearlescent Sparkling Pure Gold, Gold Rush & Paradise Star Gold.  Second picture was taken in direct sunlight

Metallic Olivia, when used in polish, is one of those trouble pigments. It's also nearly identical to TKB Trading's Crucible Khaki (view my comparison here).

24 Karat Gold, Goldstone, Metallic Olivia & Sparkle Gold. Second picture was taken in direct sunlight.

Antique Gold, Pearlescent Sparkling Pure Gold, Gold Rush & Paradise Star Gold. Second picture was taken in direct sunlight.

The oranges are: Aruban Coral Pearl, Metallic Pearl Honey Tan, Tangerine Pearl, Paradise Shimmer Tan, Metallic Pearl Bronze, Metallic Copper, Copper & Metallic Rustic Gold. Second picture was taken in direct sunlight.  

Metallic Rustic Gold closely resembles TKB's Aztec Gold, viewable here. Metallic Copper is another troublesome pigment in polish.

Aruban Coral Pearl, Metallic Pearl Honey Tan, Tangerine Pearl & Paradise Shimmer Tan.

Metallic Pearl Bronze, Metallic Copper, Copper & Metallic Rustic Gold.

For the reds we have: Paradise Rose Sky, Metallic Pearl Red Raisin, Pearlescent Fire, Sienna Fine Pearl, Blackstar Red, Blue Claret Pearl, Cerise Flambe & Antique Red. Second picture was taken in direct sunlight.

And finally, pinks. Sunset, Duocrome Red Orange, Chrome Carmine, Blushing Pink, Hot Side Pink and Cellini Red Intense.  Second picture was taken in direct sunlight.

Chrome Carmine has a very intense gold reflection to it. Cellini Red, while indeed intense, is nearly matte.

Sunset, Duocrome Red Orange, Chrome Carmine. The purplish hue in the Sunset is not an illusion. Second picture was taken in direct sunlight.

Blushing Pink, Hot Side Pink & Cellini Red Intense.

Swatches: Coastal Scents Cools

Having completed the task of posting my Christmas pigments I decided to continue documenting the rest of my collection with swatches. Today I'm beginning with Coastal Scents pigments, the cool color range (and neutrals). All pictures, unless stated otherwise, go from left to right. Click to enlarge.

I only have 3 neutral color pigments from CS; Antique Silver, Ultra Shimmer and Crystal Ice. Ultra Shimmer and Crystal Ice were featured in the entry Comparisons/Swatches and as you can see, they are virtually identical. I own Polished Silver from TKB Trading and Antique Silver is definitely darker.

These were taken in direct sunlight.

For purples we have: Blue-Red Chrome, Mauve Quartz, Metallic Pixie Purple, Orchid Shimmer and Antique Red. Antique Red may look a bit too red to be pictured here but next to the reds, it looks too purple. The Blue-Red Chrome has a pinkish-purple interference which is more visible on the finger swatch as is the interference color of Mauve Quartz. Several of these colors have dupes or "cousins" from other companies but I'll address that in a separate entry.

The blues are: Metallic Sapphire Pearl, Sparkle Blue and Blackstar Blue. True to the name, Blackstar Blue (along with the other Blackstar colors) is a very dark, black-based color. Metallic Sapphire Pearl and Sparkle Blue are very close in color but the Sparkle Blue… sparkles more.

Greens are as follows: Duocrome Iridescent Green Gold, Gemtone Topaz, Paradise Sea Green, Emerald Isle, Majestic Green and Blackstar Green. The second pic was taken in direct sunlight.

In the following pictures are: Emerald Isle, Majestic Green and Blackstar Green. The second pic was taken in direct sunlight. Yes, I accidently skipped my middle finger.

I saved the aqua and blue-green colors for last because the first time I photographed the set, I'd forgotten to include Gemtone Emerald. I re-photographed the set but two days later and with very minimal sun.

The blue greens are: Duocrome Sparkle, Sage Blue, Summit Turquoise, Duocrome Blue Green and Gemtone Emerald, in that order.

The second part of my Coastal Scents collection will be completed and posted on the next obliging day. Once again, it is gloomy and overcast around here. –MK

Swatches: The Conservatorie Pigments

I have swatched and photographed all the pigments from my recent (and only) order from The Conservatorie and have them ready to post. In this order was:

1.     SuperNova Blue… a white interference pigment, similar to TKB's Hilite Blue

2.     SuperNova Red… a white interference pigment, similar to TKB's Hilite Red

3.     SuperNova Green… a white interference pigment, similar to TKB's Hilite Green

4.     Frosty Gold Luster… a white interference pigment, similar to TKB's Hilite Gold

5.     Frosty Glitter Green… a white interference pigment, similar to TKB's Hilite Green

6.     Frosty Glitter Blue… a white interference pigment, similar to TKB's Hilite Blue

7.     Starlight Ruby… thoughts to be added.

8.     Merlot Gold… not identical but similar to TKB's Aztec Gold.

9.     Starlight Green… thoughts to be added.

10.       Red Clay Satin… Another pigment far different from its picture. Rather than a red, it's orange and also boring!

11.       Pink (Green) Interference… I don't know why I bought it, don't really like it but the green/pink interference is different.

12.       Watermelon… thoughts to be added.

13.       Lovely/Magic Pink… thoughts to be added.

14.       Ruby Red… thoughts to be added.

15.       Peach Sunset …a very bright orange with slight peach undertone.

16.       Golden Green Mica… thoughts to be added.

17.       Magic Violet Mica… thoughts to be added.

18.       Pansy… thoughts to be added.

19.       Indigo… is nearly identical to TKB's Aster Hue.

20.       Sparkling Violet… thoughts to be added.

21.       Bubblegum Pink… thoughts to be added.

22.       Opal Violet Pearl… a white interference pigment, gritty feeling and not that bright but it does sparkle.

23.       Opal Copper/Copper Pearl… a white interference pigment.

24.       Primrose… thoughts to be added.

25.       Hot Pink… thoughts to be added.

26.       Midori Blue… thoughts to be added.

27.       Violet… thoughts to be added.

28.       Shimmer Green… thoughts to be added.

29.       Shamrock Green… one of those colors I consider boring. The Conservatorie's picture shows it has a much more intense rich green.

30.       Luster Blue… thoughts to be added.

We'll start with the blues and greens. Shown below are, from left to right: Midori Blue, Luster Blue, Starlight Green, Golden Green, Shimmer Green & Shamrock Green.

For the warm colors we have from left to right: Merlot Gold, Peach Sunset

Red Clay Satin, Ruby Red & Starlight Ruby.

 

In the purple color range is from left to right: Indigo, Sparkling Violet, Pansy, Magic Violet & Violet.

The bottom swatch on my index finger is Indigo, the top is Sparkling Violet. The middle is Pansy, the ring finger is Magic Violet & Violet is on the little finger.

The pinks include the following from left to right: Pink/Green Interference,

Bubblegum Pink, Watermelon, Hot Pink, Magic Pink & Primrose.

Here we have from left to right: Pink/Green Interference, Bubblegum Pink, Watermelon & Hot Pink.

And the last two pinks, Magic Pink & Primrose.

Finally we come to the (white) interference pigments which do not cooperate with the camera. Since they are all white I've chosen to post only the pictures that show the interference color.
